Students taking this course will receive education and training leading to a skilled trade certificate and knowledge that aid them in operating and maintaining facilities with unlimited heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

They will also be prepared to sit for the unlimited Refrigeration Journeyman examination at the city of Detroit or to earn an online trade certification.

Prerequisites:

HVAC Technician I course.  Must also have taken or currently enrolled in all of the following internship classes “RT-INT Refrigeration Internship, HVACL-INT HVAC Limited Internship, HVACJ-INT HVAC Journey Internship, INT-B1– Heating internship 1 and INT-B2 – Heating Internship 2”

What To Expect The HVAC Technician II worker, (facility maintenance technician) is an entry level position. Workers at this level perform general facility maintenance and may be required to operate and maintain low pressure heating boilers, refrigeration equipment, and furnaces. They also perform heating plant technician duties and general maintenance. These workers maintain and repair machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings. They work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems.

Work Environment General maintenance technicians often carry out many different tasks in a single day. They work at any number of locations, both indoor and outdoor. They work inside a single building, such as a public and private schools, municipal facilities, hotels or hospitals, or are responsible for the maintenance of many buildings, such as those in an apartment complex or college campus.
