Students taking this course after completion receive advanced training at the highest level of refrigeration operations and a vocational training certificate. This level (1st class) refrigeration operator course prepares students to operate and maintain
facilities with unlimited refrigeration equipment. Minimum prerequisites for this course required ninth grade reading and math.
What To Expect The Refrigeration Technician worker is the highest refrigeration operator level position. Workers at this level perform general facility maintenance and may be required to operate and maintain low and high pressure heating boilers, refrigeration equipment, and furnaces. These workers maintain and repair machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings. They work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems. |

Work Environment General maintenance technicians often carry out many different tasks in a single day. They work at any number of locations, both indoor and outdoor. They work inside a single building, such as a public and private schools, municipal facilities, hotels or hospitals, or are responsible for the maintenance of many buildings, such as those in an apartment complex, or college campus. These technicians are often hired as supervising operators in refrigeration plants such as dairies and ice plants. PREREQUISITES: Refrigeration Technician I course or Third Class Refrigeration license. Students must also be working in the field to be eligible to take this course. |
